Wayne Donald Smith, 86, of Alpha, died on Saturday, September 19, 2009 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital, Galesburg, IL. Graveside services are 11 a.m. Thursday, October 1, 2009 at Eliza Creek Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Eliza Creek Cemetery. Bewley Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Aledo assisted the family with arrangements.

Mr. Smith was born November 26, 1922 in Putnam Co. Missouri, the son of Claude and Sarah Jackson Smith. He married Dorothy Gritton on May 18, 1945 in Muscatine, Iowa.

Wayne was self employed as a farmer and retired in 1979. He was a member of the Eagles Club in Oquawka, Keithsburg Boat Club and Davis Hunting Club of Southern Illinois. He enjoyed goose hunting, fishing and camping.

Survivors (and spouses) include his wife, Dorothy and special friends Steve and Jodi Palmer and their family, Reynolds, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; a sister; and a daughter, Carol Ann.
