James H. Gilbert, 60, of Millersburg, died Saturday, May 9, 2009 at Trinity Medical Center West Campus, Rock Island. Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Wednesday at Bewley Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Aledo. Cremation rites will be accorded following the visitation. There are no funeral services. Memorials may be made to the James H. Gilbert memorial fund. A luncheon will be held 1 PM on Sunday, May 24, 2009 at 1394 120th Avenue, Aledo. Mr. Gilbert was born on November 1, 1948 in Aledo, IL, the son of Willis and Mary L. Beasley Gilbert. He married Carol Cecil on December 5, 1971 in Aledo.

Jim was employed at John Deere Harvester as a shear operator. He retired in 2000 after 29 years of service. He was of the Baptist faith. Jim enjoyed woodworking, motorcycle riding, camping, fishing, hunting and especially enjoyed working in his yard.

Survivors include his wife, Carol; children, Teresa Gilbert, Joy, and James T. (Norma) Gilbert, Seaton; grandchildren, Tyler, Justin and Shawna Gilbert, Mary and Bryant Stokes, great-grandchildren, Alexyana and Nevaeh Massey; sisters, Kathy (Dannie) Miller, Reynolds and Marilyn (Billy) Strong, Rock Island; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willis and Mary Gilbert; sisters, Bonnie Whitmire and Loreta Stevens and brother, Glen LaRue.
