Patricia Ann Barnett, 79, of Aledo died Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at Mercer County Hospital, Aledo.

Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Bewley Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Aledo. Visitation is 5 - 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial is in the Aledo Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Mercer County Hospital.

Patty was born January 17, 1930 in Perryton Township, Mercer County, Illinois, the daughter of Leonard T. Dorothy and Violette Pauline Durney Dorothy Long. She married Paul Barnett. He died in January 2000.

Patty graduated from Sherrard High School in 1947. She worked at Rock Island Produce in Rock Island, Montgomery Ward in the credit office, also in Rock Island and Brown Lynch Scott which later became Martha Brown, LTD in Aledo where she was the manager until the store closed in 1991. She was a 50 year member of the Aledo Chapter No. 126 Order of the Eastern Star and a 50 year member of the Preemption United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her sons, Paul (Kathy) Barnett, Jr., Jacksonville, IL, John (Sherry) Barnett, Aledo; step-daughter Ann (Terry) Petersen, Blue Grass, IA; sister, Donna Zimmerman, Aledo; brother Leonard Dorothy, Aledo; 7 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband and 1 grandson.
