Wilma Wakeland, 78, of New Boston died on Sunday, January 14, 2007 at her home. Per her wishes there are no services. Cremation rites have been accorded.

Mrs. Wakeland was born September 21, 1928 in New Boston, IL, the daughter of John W. and Elsie L. Baugess Kaufman. She married Joseph C. Wakeland on July 6, 1946 in Aledo, IL.

Wilma was a member of the New Boston Methodist Church. She liked to crochet, read, fish and enjoyed her Grand, Great-Grand and Great-Great-Grandchildren.

Survivors (and spouses) include her husband, Joseph, New Boston; daughters, Sandy (Chuck) Pierce, Jeri (Earl) Brown, and Teri Wakeland, all of New Boston; sons, Danny (Karen) Wakeland, Peoria, IL, Ricky Wakeland, New Boston, IL; 9 grandchildren including 3 special grandchildren, Lori Huston, Joe Wakeland and Susan Sedam; 12 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; brothers, James (Verlea) Kaufman, Keithsburg, IL, Gary (Jean) Kaufman, New Boston, IL; and sister, JoAnne (Bill) Pinger, Keithsburg, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Shirley Lee.
