Allen M. Welty, 86, of Aledo, died Sunday, January 20, 2008 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Bewley Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Aledo. Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Monmouth Cemetery in Monmouth, IL Memorials may be made to the Allen Welty Memorial Fund. Military Rites will be conducted by the Mercer County VFW Post # 1571.

Mr. Welty was born April 30, 1921 in Monmouth, Ill., the son of Melvin Allen Welty and Mildred Carlotta Carstensen. He married Betty Jean Lusk in July 1948 in Monmouth and later married Vicky Rae Harrison in February 1968. Allen was a World War II Veteran in the Army Air Force and a member of the Aledo Moose Lodge and the Angus Association. He was a farmer. He enjoyed raising cattle, fishing, his grandkids and his family.

Survivors (and spouses) include his children, Alan (Susan) Welty, and Jennifer Jean (Charles) Clark, both of Galesburg and James Troy (Monica) Welty, Aledo; sister-in-law, Violet Mae Welty, Galesburg; 8 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vicky, parents, and brother, Earl.
