Paul E. Vance

Paul E. Vance, 90, of Aledo, died on Friday, July 13, 2007 at Mercer County Nursing Home, Aledo.

Services are 2 p.m. Monday at Bewley Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Aledo. Visitation will be Monday noon to service time. Burial will be in the Aledo Cemetery. Military Rites will be conducted by the Mercer County VFW Post 1571.Memorials may be made to the Aledo United Methodist Church or Mercer County Nursing Home.

Mr. Vance was born December 20, 1916 in Aledo, the son of Ed and Opal Rockwell Vance. He married Lois Rausch on Dec. 17, 1939 in Viola, IL.

He worked retail for 35 years at Ed Vance and Sons, Aledo, retiring in 1981. Paul was a World War II Army Veteran. He was a member of the Aledo United Methodist Church, Mercer County VFW Post 1571 and the Aledo American Legion Post 121. Paul enjoyed duck hunting, fishing, camping, wood working and working on Mercury motors. He enjoyed making go-carts go fast.

Survivors (and spouses) are Lois, his wife of 67 years; daughter, Paula Vance, Davenport, IA; son, James E. (Diana) Vance, Aledo; brothers, Robert (Eileen) Vance, Aledo and Donald (Jean) Vance, TX; grandchildren, Heidi Chandler, Aledo, Heather (Matt) Powell, IN, Darcy (Paul) Knoblich, VA and Kristy Vance, Chicago, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Kathryn Fisher.
